Prince Edward Island 1A

  • Road Condition:  Paved; shoulder
  • Terrain:  Flat to Gently Rolling

      This highway comes in two pieces. Route 1A serves as an extension of the Trans-Canada Highway, Route 1, to connect the Confederation Bridge with Summerside. It has a shoulder, but is not a prime cycling road. Take highway 10 for the section between the Confederation Bridge, and Central Bedeque.

    A sister section of this road is located far away to the east of the city of Charlottetown. No doubt this was once the main road and it was decided to not rename it when the Trans-Canada was put through to the north. It begins to the east of Charlottetown in the suburbs and runs along the coast for 10 km.
