Tour One - Yarmouth Area

Distance: Tour A 55 km (34 miles) (shorter tour possible) Tour B 25 km (15 miles)

Starting Point: Yarmouth

Region: South-West Nova Scotia

Terrain: Rolling

New arrivals off the ferry from Maine will find this a good tour to acquaint themselves with Nova Scotia. The Nova Scotia Bicycle Book outlines two short outings, perfect if you would like a day to get your legs back after your ferry voyage. or while waiting to return home.

One tour guides you past Forchu's huge lighthouse. It is the first thing mariners see, the warning from its horn the first thing they hear. It has for many generations guided ships into Yarmouth Harbour with beacons seen from far out to sea.

The other is around Chebogue Point, where lupines line the road. A very big part of the "Age of Sail", there are over 50 marked historic sites in the county. Several interesting and curious diversions are also outlined.
