as Nova Scotia gets
On this pleasant
rolling tour you pass through orchards
and fertile farmland on the floor of
the Annapolis Valley. The book begins
by following a meandering and quiet
tarmac road. It outlines many shortcuts
using side roads, you can cross over
at numerous points, tailoring the route
to your taste.
The described tour from the Nova
Scotia Bicycle Book goes clockwise,
beginning in Kentville. To It is just
as easy to start the loop at Kingston
or Berwick. You can from here, do the
entire loop, but also do it in two halves,
or just one section. This enables this
tour to be tasted by most cyclists.
Most people along the way trace their
ancestors back to several immigrations
of New Englanders, known as the Planters.
Small communities lie every few kilometers.
These offer comforts not found in other
regions of Nova Scotia. Villages and
general stores follow the route, and
not far away on highway #1. For this
reason, this is perhaps the best very
early/ late season ride in the province.
This is the warmest part of Nova Scotia.
Both mountain ridges, while not extremely
high, still manage keep warm air contained
in the valley. Here lie the region's
famous apple orchards, in late May a
riot of pink and white blossoms. Autumn
is perfect for this tour, as trees with
multi-coloured leaves cover the valley.
Harvest time in October still offers
exceptional cycling- falling leaves,
wagons filled with pumpkins and plenty
of places to get warm.
