Tour 14 LaHave

Distance: 79 km (47 miles)

Starting Point: Riverport; Lunenburg; Bridgewater

Region: South Shore

Terrain: Flat (optional extension of tour hilly)

On this easy tour, you explore both sides of the LaHave River. Open to the ocean, this scenic waterway has both a fresh as well as a saltwater section. A short-cut of 6.4 km (4.0 mi.) is also offered. Several spots will be available to take breaks. A short ferry ride transports you across the LaHave to follow the edge of its western shore.

At Bridgewater, the salt water section of the river is met by fresh water flowing from inland lakes. At this point the Nova Scotia Bicycle Book offers a tour extension, by an option of going further up the river. Crossing over, you can return on the other side.
