Tour 22 Chignecto Bay  / Minas Basin

Distance: 220 km (132 miles)

Starting Point: Amherst; Parrsboro; Truro

Region: Central Nova Scotia

Terrain: Rolling to very Hilly

This is one of the most scenic and unpublicized areas of Nova Scotia. You are sure to find this tour a most unexpected surprise. Wide open spaces, and magnificent scenery lie along the renown Bay of Fundy . Divided into two sections, this tour of the Nova Scotia Bicycle Book runs from Amherst to Parrsboro, Truro, then "restarts" there, to enable convenient connections, and to focus on the different natures of each part.

This quiet area was once a busy shipbuilding region. Today in places there is no one for long stretches. Along the shores semiprecious stones are revealed in soil eroded from the cliffs. Acadian dykes still line the marshes and wild blueberry fields run up into the hills. Now completely paved, the road is referred to as "the mini Cabot Trail". Spectacular views are commonplace.
