Tour
30 Sunny Brae
Distance: 53 km (33 miles)
Starting Point:
New Glasgow; Sunny Brae
Region: Eastern
Nova Scotia
Terrain: Rolling; along sides of narrow valley
"A Gleann
Boidheach" This Gaelic phrase meaning
"beautiful valley", can still be used
to describe the land along the winding
East River. Unknown and unpromoted,
the Nova Scotia Bicycle Book reveals
this "hidden corner" of Nova Scotia.
The Gaelic tongue is now gone, but
not much else has changed since the
Scots built their first homesteads years
ago. Once past Stellarton, there are
few gaudy modern intrusions. The tour
is a day outing, with the turn-around
coming mid-day deep in Nova Scotia's
interior.
The guide includes accommodation suggestions
for the area and nearby Pictou.
