Sharing 35 years experience
We have been helping people enjoy bike trips since way back in 1987. Thousands have enjoyed our tours. We know all the best cycling routes, the hidden corners, everything that is special about Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Quebec. We have cycled almost every road there is in each province. We are passionate about sharing our experience.
Our story is a personal one
It all started when Gary Conrod wanted to put on a large gathering of cyclists in 1987. An extreme amount of work, it was an overwhelming success. Gary was asked to put on bicycle camping tours in scenic parts of Canada’s Atlantic Provinces. It all grew out of this passion. Gary is still involved with every rider on every tour. Read his story here.
A limited time experience
After 35 years, ACC founder Gary feels the time is approaching for the final bicycle tours to be run. Gary is very particular about how bicycle tours are designed and run. There will be no passing the torch, no company sale, no transfer of user lists. This has always been about the cycling. If you have been thinking of joining us on one of our bike rides do it soon.
A big strong point
Unlike mostly all smaller tour operations, we have at least two support vehicles – both a logistics truck as well as a sag wagon. Sometimes we even add a third. Our goal is to allow everyone to ride at their own pace, while also supporting them on the road. We patrol our routes until everyone has safely arrived. The vehicles, fuel, and staffing for this road support is a huge effort and a big financial commitment.
Its about flexibility
With our tour support, we can let riders stop and go as they wish. We don’t ride like ducks in a row behind a leader. There is no struggling to keep up. it allows cyclists of all abilities and ages, we have many in their 50s, 60s, 70s and a few beyond. Riders move along with those of about the same speed and interests. For food, there is no plan people have to stand about in the rain for. If one wants to go for an evening walk or go to a restaurant they like, they can. Our personalized food storage, iced coolers, supply of cooking gear, and grocery pickup system might be unique to our tours. The grocery stop, where our group gathers up, becomes a highlight of the day. While not the best for those who want to sit back after after a hard ride, those who love our tours tell us the mealtime preparation is part of the experience. People who like us like how we do things. They tell us not to change a single thing.
Thank you
It has been a wonderful 35 years! As we begin to slow down and put on fewer tours, we treasure all the friendships we have made. It has always been about the cycling, but also about the togetherness. We hope you can join us on one of our last rides.
