Comments – Cape Breton Island Bicycle Tour
Been There…Done That – ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! Thank you Atlantic Canada Cycling!!!
Campgrounds were good and the food system — which we were hesitant about before the trip, not sure how well it would work — actually was great. Great setup with the dishes and cooking tools, crate and cooler system, and daily grocery pickups.
Thanks again – it was far beyond what we hoped for. The crew was wonderful. The sag wagon was always where I needed it.
The website gave the impression that it was arranged and hosted by an expert in the area and biking, as well as, a great balance of information, quirkiness and humour. And amazing pictures to peruse. Also, the reasonable price, camping and the laid back feel of the descriptions, socializing, options, etc.
Had a blast. Good luck and see you again!
The trip was a joy in many ways. Very challenging for me, but finding that I could do it was exhilarating. I’ve returned in a better place with myself and the world. Ill detour for the Newfoundland tour next year.
We loved it. A simple inexpensive, no frills tour. Just what we were looking for.
Thank you all for a wonderful time I will never forget! It was a great time meeting and hanging out with each and every one of you.
The last eight days couldn’t have been better. Grateful to all of you for the kindness, inspiration, hilarity, & rich memories
I love that my pics are still up on the Cape Breton tour! Time of my life.
Congratulations on another fine trip. The tour allowed sufficient opportunities for additional mileage. The tour gives back more than what is paid for. Looking forward to next year if I can make it.
Finished the Cape Breton tour on Monday with a great group of folks. Thank you for a wonderful week of cycling.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! Thank you Atlantic Canada Cycling!!!
Thank you for your fantastic support on our trip! We got a
taste of the hills of Cape Breton!
I remember the Cape Breton tour clearly. It was fantastic. I hope to do another tour with ACC one day… sooner than later.
I loved it! The distances were manageable, the campgrounds were lovely and the biking was beyond amazing!!
Your customers were all first rate folks and we made friends that we hope will continue to ride your routes.
Great job planning out route — everyone commented on how it progressed so perfectly day-by-day building up to the spectacular days of climbing on the Cabot Trail.
I’m on my fourth trip with ACC at the moment and I plan to do more. I like the way the tours work: riders get just what they need and are free to explore on their own. I also like the atmosphere which is relaxed and friendly. Highly recommended!
Thanks for another fantastic and memorable trip. You guys do a great job.
What a great bike ride it was! We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent with each one of you. Group dynamics were important, and it was good.
What a great vacation it was! We were a very great group and we enjoyed the company of each of you! Also thanks for the amazing organization! Everything was perfect!
Au revoir! Hope to see you again in the future!
I truly hope everyone had as great a time as I did. It was by far the most fun I had on a bike tour.
My son and I just signed up for the Cape Breton Tour.We did the PEI tour two years ago and had a great time. We are a little worried about the mountains on this tour but we started our training yesterday. And it is good to know that Gary and his crew are only a phone call away.
The group dynamics were the most important factor to me in having a good tour and they were really excellent. There was a positive supportive and hospitable energy on the whole tour. It feels wrong not to be seeing you all again! I’m certainly up for more ACC tours in the future. Peace, love, happiness…see you on the road.
It was better than expected. Lots of support, camaraderie and amazing cycling!
We signed up for the July PEI tour and are really looking forward to visiting PEI! We did the ACC tour of Cape Breton Island a dozen or so years ago and loved it. ACC provides a quality tour at a reasonable price. See you all in July.
I did the Cape Breton trail twice with Gary! Loved every moment of it. He’s a great organiser.
Thanks for everything including all my questions. Thanks also for all the wonderful riding routes, especially the ride from Dingwall to Cheticamp.
It’s been years since I participated in the ACC Cape Breton tour, but I look back at it fondly.
When the eight days were over I was glad that I had done all of the climbs, seen all the great wildlife, and met all of the great people whom I hope to keep in touch with.
I just want to let you know what an amazing experience the trip was. I was so impressed at the support and the patience you both had for myself and everyone else on the tour. That was the best week of vacation for me ever.
We did the Cabot Trail on rented hybrids and had no trouble with the hills. Suggest you do some hill work prior to the tour. It’s a very nice scenic tour and ACC does a great job with supporting the riders. Enjoy.
Spectacular riding and great company. I couldn’t have imagined it better. Thank you for a great experience everyone. Great program and support; don’t change a thing.
The tour was great – the maps and route planning were exceptional.
I have been on Gary’s Cabot Trail ride sixteen times going back to 1992. I went on the Gaspe Tour two summers ago. Cape Breton is a gem.
My first ride, Baja, Mexico was done in the 80’s. The second goal was the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. I rode this in July. The opportunity was Gary Conrod, (www.atlanticcanadacycling.com) who conducted a tour of the trail as part of his schedule of rides.
Gary runs well organized but hands off tours. He trucks your luggage, arranges for campgrounds, and supplies a simple route sheet. The rest is up to you. The cue sheet gives one word directions (left, right) at local landmarks. One day he used an actual sentence… “Left, Listen! We Said Left! Don’t Go Up The Hill”. You get the idea. A unique feature of the cue sheet is that it locates the first and last restaurant of the day and a likely stop for lunch (if they are open). And for those eating in camp, the location of a store where you may put your bagged purchase in a bin provided. Gary will then pick it up and bring it to camp for the end of the day. Ice cream is not a good purchase.
Everything was so well organized and I felt safe and cared for throughout the entire trip.
I thought the cooking format worked well. I had never done it that way before. You were well equipped, and I kinda enjoy the challenge of making a meal from what is. The potluck, especially, was very enjoyable…
I think the routes, the mileage, the sequence of the challenges, were all just right… At first, I was thinking the days were too short, but then I realized that not only was there plenty else to do, but there was lots of recovery time for the next challenge.
Thank you so much for everything on the CB tour! It was so fantastic and memorable. I loved all the people I met and all the things we did. Your organization and service was perfect.
Wow! How can we thank you enough for this life changing experience. You gave us such a gift! Thank you for being you!
Beautiful landscapes, good exercise, and meeting nice like-minded people. Cape Breton blew my expectations away with the landscape and elevation. Very fun, beautiful and GREAT exercise.
Thank you, thank you, thank you…it was life altering!
Thanks for making the biking so much easier. Great routes. I’d like to do another tour with you another time.
I think Gary has done more for cycling than anyone in Eastern Canada. The service you provide is a great boost to the cycling community. You guys are the best.
Very good value (already planning next one).
I just wanted to say thank you in general for a wow tour. I thought you id a fine job of working hard to meet our needs and answer our unending questions.
This will be tour number 6 with you and all my memories of cycling with your company are wonderful. I look forward to cycling Cape Breton Island again with you and your staff. I’m trying to talk a few other friends in coming up for the tour but I don’t think I’ll have any takers…but you never know.
